As I have a few moments of down time, I sit and write this blog. Kolohe, my sweet kitty, walks across my keyboard and lays down right next to me, somehow knowing I need his company. His soft fur brushes my arm and reminds me to continually notice the important little pleasures I sometimes overlook.
The North Shore has been blessed with lots of rain this year. The banana and avocado trees have produced enough fruit to feed an army, that army being my family. We’ve been spoiled with ridiculous amounts of apple bananas, fresh avocados, purple lilikois falling off the vine, and the sweetest sweet potatoes right from the garden.
It has been months since our last blog post here at Beach Girl Jewels. We are so grateful to be busy filling order after order. We’ve had a couple weeks here to get some major spring cleaning started and finished. Starting with our studio and shop, the main goal was to declutter and organize. We spent hours organizing pearls and gems by size, shape, color, and type. Pepper, our sweet white Jack Russel Rat Terrier, hunts for geckos while Mina, our Dauschand Bull Terrier, sleeps uncomfortably on her few extra pounds. Luckily we found a lot of new material to work with that had be hidden and forgotten – like our new double chain sea glass bracelet that we loved designing and creating.
This year, we’re doing more cleaning than just our home. The Beach Girl Jewels website got a total makeover, as well as our vision and direction for the business; but most importantly, we’re making sure our bodies are pure, clean, and healthy in order to allow our creativity to flow. With the summer months approaching, we’re enjoying the last cool breeze of winter. Soon it will be hotter than a jalapeno and a mandatory beach break will be in session. The turquoise water will call our names from the studio, inviting us to come play.
