Typically we’d have our Thanksgiving dinner outside in the front yard. We’d set up tables and chairs and decorate with flower arrangements and a beautiful tropical centerpiece. This is still the plan, but with all this rain, our grass is mud. Our driveway is a slip and slide for our feet and cars. The mud is thick and sticks to the bottom of your slippers and it feels like you have an extra pair of shoes on. The dogs are a disaster but somehow, the cats are still clean. Our white truck is brown and caked with mud from pounding through the pot holes and spinning out in the driveway. So – as for Thanksgiving, we are trying to find a place to set up our table. We’re expecting about 20 people. Our family of four is opening our house to 16 extra people. It should be crowded and fun. Luckily, I will have help preparing, prepping, cooking, eating, and cleaning. On this day, we give thanks. We are thankful. Thankful for life, thankful for each soul we meet, and thankful for the love we are surrounded by each day. We are so blessed and grateful to share this earth. In between all the Thanksgiving festivities, Beach Girl Jewels will still be getting some work done and preparing for the trunk show in Hanalei on Black Friday. Hope to see you there!

The holidays are approaching! Stores are calling and emailing in preparation for the expected busy season. We are trying to send orders early in hopes to avoid the last minute holiday rush. Is that avoidable though? Challenge accepted! Sport will keep us SMILING through these busy couple months! 
Lately, we’ve been working on juggling a few things. Between having company at the house, to revamping unhealthy holiday recipes, to responding to emails, to getting orders together, to keeping the office organized, to making sure Sport is in sight and safe – we are loving every surprise life gives us. It is interesting to live in a place where tourism is so popular. Every time we have family visit, they are on vacation. It is our continuous goal to find a balance between being on vacation with them while trying to stay on track with work and our health goals. What works best is taking mini vacations – even if it’s just for a few hours. This allows us to relax and feel like time doesn’t exist. To let our worries slip into the ocean. To splurge on a fancy dinner. To play hooky from work and go on a road trip around the island on a random Tuesday. Having a few fun breaks every now and again helps us regain our focus and the more experiences we find, the further we know what direction to keep on traveling.
We’ve been daydreaming of holiday recipes and realizing how the typical desserts and dishes don’t compliment our new eating habits. Wheat, dairy, corn, and processed foods haven’t seen our kitchen in months. Our diet change has resulted in high energy, clear minds, productive days, and restful nights. After feeling this good, it’s easy to say no to what were previously tempting foods. We’re happily recreating meals and desserts with whole, natural foods from earth. This Thanksgiving, a raw pumpkin cashew cheesecake will take the place of the regular pumpkin pie. This is just one of the major changes that will keep our bellies happy and our sweet tooths satisfied. Pictures and maybe a recipe or two will come in the next few blog posts 🙂
